Beyu Caffe at Boxyard RTP, a retail ensemble that pairs
small businesses with shipping containers, presented a unique design
opportunity. This space seamlessly merges Beyu’s distinct identity with
Boxyard’s industrial vibe, utilizing three conjoined shipping containers with
predetermined openings. The design cleverly segments the café into three
functional areas—take, serve, and stay—each housed within custom birch plywood
built-ins that slide within the container’s volume. By exposing the container
walls, the design maximizes floor area and emphasizes the café’s modular
concept, creating the Beyu Caffe experience within a structured plan.
