Pettigrew State Park Visitor Center Honored with 2020 AIA South Atlantic Region Design Award
Pettigrew State Park Visitor Center has been recognized with the Merit Award (unbuilt) from the American Institute of Architects - South Atlantic Region.
The newly imagined Pettigrew State Park Visitor Center takes its design cues from the surrounding natural context and transforms them into a strikingly modern design. The building envelope encases the program and provides a lifted wrapping porch – a traditional southern staple that provides shelter, encourages relaxation, and welcomes visitors.
This highly-sought-after award recognizes a broad range of architecture activity that improves the quality of the built environment in the communities we serve. Specifically, the South Atlantic Region includes all the chapters in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The selection process is carefully structured so that the honorees elevate the general quality of the architectural practice and establishes a standard of excellence across the field. This year’s jury was chaired by Roberto Leon from de Leon & Primmer. We are humbled to recognized amongst so many exceptional projects.
