nAGS hEAD, nORTH cAROLINA
The Outer Banks are the birthplace of all forms of aviation, from the famous Wright Brothers’ flight to the Rogallos’ flexible wing invention. Located within Jockey’s Ridge State Park, this museum uses the experience and thrill of flying as the catalyst for showcasing the history, development, and adventure of low-speed flight. A soaring canopy welcomes and draws in visitors, launching a gradually ascending, immersive journey past exhibits celebrating the Rogallos’ creations and other aerodonetic developments. The ramp experience culminates in an expansive overlook connecting visitors to the park’s unique natural setting and the gliders taking flight on the dunes beyond.
